Artificial Intelligence for Energy research (in preparation)
Designing the energy systems of the future
Future energy systems are based increasingly on decentralized power generation, ‘prosumers’, decentralized energy storage and large-scale power source delocation (such as offshore wind parks), while at the same time taking into consideration e-mobility and smart homes containing roof-top photovoltaics and heat pumps. The current rigid energy distribution model is therefore no longer appropriate for these changing preconditions and requirements; autonomous decisions are called for in management, operation and optimization.
This Helmholtz AI young investigator group aims to adapt AI methods for this ever-growing field of application; for example, for optimized prosumer and grid operator behavior, and tight integration of AI in the energy system design itself is required.
