Helmholtz AI at ALL IN 2026: Germany and Canada deepen their AI partnership

Helmholtz AI joined the German delegation at Canada's largest AI conference, where Germany was Country of Honour.

ALL IN is Canada's largest AI event. Initiated by Scale AI (Canada's AI Global Innovation Cluster) and first held in 2023, it takes place annually at the Palais des congrès de Montréal and has grown from around 2,300 participants in its first year to more than 6,000 from over 40 countries in 2025. Its focus is on building an AI-powered economy and on real-world adoption of AI.

On 16 and 17 September 2026, Helmholtz AI took part in this year's edition. A delegation led by Federal Minister for Digital and State Modernisation Karsten Wildberger appeared alongside Canada's Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, Evan Solomon. Minister Wildberger called for turning debate into effective collaboration and for giving companies frameworks they can build on.

At the German pavilion, Helmholtz AI's work was presented to Minister Wildberger. The presentation also showed how the Helmholtz Association's AI Action Plan is building the AI-for-Science infrastructure that Germany and Europe need, linking supercomputers, high-quality research data, modern AI models and unique research infrastructure.

Research cooperation was another focus: a roundtable brought the German delegation together with Mila, Vector, Amii and CIFAR. Minister Wildberger encouraged German and Canadian research organisations to expand and deepen their ties.
